Information on data protection for the “Research in Europe” website

We process your personal data in compliance with the applicable data protection regulations, in particular the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Brandenburg Data Protection Act (BbgDSG).

Purpose of the processing

As part of the press and public relations work of the University of Potsdam, the website serves to inform the public about the information event to be held on May 4, 2022, entitled Research in Europe – National and European Research Funding.

 Lawfulness of processing

The legal basis for data processing related to visiting the website is provided by Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 letter e GDPR in conjunction with section 3 para. 7 Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG) and section 5 para. 1 Brandenburg Data Protection Act (BbgDSG).

Recipients of your data

The website is operated by P3 Projekt GmbH (Schlossstraße 13, 14467 Potsdam) on the basis of a commissioned data processing contract. The following subcontractors are used: Mr. Rüdiger Richter (IT administration, programming) and ALL-INKL.COM Neue Medien Münnich (web hosting).

Duration of data processing

Whenever the website is accessed, the following data is stored in log files for the purpose of operational and data security as well as for statistical purposes:

  • IP address,
  • Time of access,
  • UserAgent (browser and operating system used)
  • accessed page or content elements and
  • if provided, referrer URL.

The log data is stored for a maximum of 7 days.


When you visit the website, so-called “session cookies” are placed and stored on your computer. Cookies are small text files that are used to make the website more user-friendly, effective and secure. They do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain viruses. As a rule, session cookies are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. You have the option of deactivating the storage of cookies by making the appropriate settings in your browser. Please note that by deactivating cookies, you may not be able to use all functions of our website to their full extent.

Your rights:

You have the right to obtain from the controller confirmation as to whether or not your personal data is being processed, and, if that is the case, access to the personal data and additional information (right of access). You also have the right to obtain from the controller without undue delay the rectification of inaccurate personal data. If the legal requirements of Art. 17 or 18 GDPR are met, you are entitled to the erasure of your personal data or to a restriction of processing. Please note that restricted processing of the data may not be possible in every instance. You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, standard and machine-readable format or to request the transfer to another controller (right to data portability, Art. 20 GDPR). Furthermore, you may object to the processing of your personal data under the conditions set forth in Art. 21 GDPR.
